Game: Gummy Bear Probability

The goal of this game with Lulu was to give her some intuition about probability at an early age.

She loves gummy bears.

I put 5 gummy bears in my hand, showing her that they were all red.  I told her that she had to guess a color, then pick one.  If she guessed the color right, she got to eat it.

She of course said “red” and I pointed out that they are all red, 5/5 so there was a 100% chance that she was right.

But then we played the game with 4 green and 1 red.  

She correctly guessed the one with more (green), and I explained that it was more likely to be green than red - 4/5 80% vs. 1/5 or 20%.

It was a fine game, and she loves gummy bears.
